    Instantaneous or continuous-flow commercial water heaters have little stored volume. They fail as lockouts, ignition faults or scale-restricted heat exchangers — and there is no tank of leftover heat to disguise it. Peak demand at 7am on a cold morning is when you find out.

    Neither type is “better” for winter. Both need a dedicated check, not a quick glance while the engineer is already in for the boilers.

The winter job is not “colder tank.” It is reliable recovery, circulating returns that actually circulate, and a plant room that does not freeze the pipework feeding the vessel.
